12V LED Lamps - Basic
12V 16 LED lamps (type MR11 & MR16) require 12V DC as provided by the battery in a solar lighting system or a suitably rated 12V Constant Current Driver.
Correct polarity must be observed or else the lamps won’t operate.. You cannot operate LEDs with a 12V SELV electronic transformer. You cannot dim LEDs
LED lamps consume very little power and provide greater light output measured in Lumens/ Watt than do halogen. LED lamps are gaining in popularity because of their lower drain on the battery when used in solar lighting systems.
LED lamps are considered to be more sustainable light sources because of their long life and the fact that no toxic materials are used in their construction (like for example, compact fluorescent lamps).
Our smallest LED lamp is the 0.8W 12 LED MR11
We have a range of 2W rated LED lamps in MR16 format with differing numbers of LEDs within their construction. The manufacturer's don't publish light output data as these lamps are not intended for professional use.
As in most things in life you only get what you pay for and this is certainly true with LED lamps. If you want / need the maximum possible light output for your application we recommend the professional LED lamps.
However, the basic low cost 12V MR16 LED lamps are often suitable and their performance can represent good value for money.
