12V PIR Movement Sensor and 12V Timer

12V PIR Movement Sensor Order Code 8059

The 12V PIR sensor is ideal for solar and battery powered lighting systems. It has a PIR sensor range of up to 10m, an adjustable light level sensor (twilight switch) and an adjustable 'on' timer. The adjustable twilight switch lets you choose whether the 12V PIR sensor will operate at all times (day and night) or only at night.

This allows the 12V PIR sensor to be set to only come on after a certain level of darkness (lux) and for an adjustable period of time (5 second ~ 15 minutes)

Areas of the lens can be masked off to prevent unwanted triggering, and the 12V PIR movement sensor has a adjustable bracket to enable optimum positioning.

12V PIR sensors are an essential component of any 12V high efficiency lighting system, ensuring that lights conveniently come on automatically at night, run for the minimum possible time and are never left on by mistake.

Can also be used to trigger an externally powered doorbell.

Like all PIR motion detectors, the sensor works most effectively when the 'target' crosses the beam diagonally - not directly head-on to the sensor.

12V PIR sensors are easy to install and set up.

The light will switch ON immediately after switching the power supply on and remain lit for about 15 seconds. After this initial self-calibration time the 12V PIR sensor is ready for use. However you will undoubtedly want to set the 12V PIR sensor to work according to your particular requirements.

First set the TIME switch to minimum marked with - symbol and set the LUX ( Twilight switch) to the SUN symbol. Then adjust the position of the PIR sensing head part of the 12V PIR sensor so that it covers the designated area. The range setting can be further adjusted using the adjustment / switch marked METER.

Please note that the PIR sensor has a 3 second re-set delay after switching OFF and before it will switch ON again. This is not of any significance during normal use. However, you should consider this delay during testing. Test the settings by doing 'walk testing' during which a person moves on the borders of the surveyed area to verify that the 12V PIR sensor covers the designated area as required. Continue adjsting the settings until you are satisfied with the performance.
