The 5W Standard Lighting Kit with 12V Bulkhead luminaire c/w 9W CFL lamp has everything required (except the battery) to illuminate remote areas where no mains power exists. The 1 x 9W CFL lamp provides mains quality lighting equivalent to a 1 x 45W incandescent lamp.

The high performance 5W solar panel generates energy during daylight hours and stores it in a 12V car or caravan battery for use during the hours of darkness.

Bright sunlight is not necessary for charging to occur - the system will work even with overcast day time conditions, both in summer and winter.

The 5W solar panel will collect enough energy during the day to power the 9W CFL for more than 2 hours a day during summer months and nearly 30 minutes a day during December (an average of 1 ½ hours a day). Please refer to the table below to see how long you can use the light for each day (on average) without running the battery flat.

The basic 5W Standard Lighting Kit is supplied with 4 x plastic brackets & nylon ties for fixing the solar panel to the mounting surface. A better (but more expensive) option is to specify the 5W Standard Lighting Kit complete with Wall Bracket for 5W solar panel (Fixed 36° and adjustable 45°) as standard.

Exempt from Part P of the Building Regulations and can safely be installed by anyone. No technical knowledge required. Everything is pre-wired for absolute simplicity of installation. Fully detailed installation leaflet with photographs provided.

The 5W Standard Lighting Kit has a 10 year warranty and will easily pay back its investment many times over.

The 5W Standard Lighting Kit contains:

1 x 5 W crystalline solar panel (35 year life expectancy).

1 x 9W 12V energy saving CFL with E27 cap (typical life expectancy 3000 h)

1 x IP54 weatherproof bulkhead luminaire with E27 12V lampholder

1 x wiring harness c/w 2 x inline fuses, battery clips and connectors

1 x Fixing kit for roof / wall or wall bracket

1 x IP54 weather proof wall switch

2 x 5m lengths of 2-core cable with red / black conductors (1mm2 csa.)



Required but NOT supplied:

 A 12V, 75 or 85 Ah car or caravan battery (deep cycle type is recommended). Available from most motoring / caravanning shops.

For the technically minded:

A charge controller is not required when a 5W solar panel is used with a 75Ah battery as the unregulated charge current cannot damage the battery. If you use a sealed lead acid battery with less capacity than that recommended above, you will need a 4Ah charge controller.
