The 28W Kit enables you to use your lighting for almost three times longer than the 10W Kit and has power to spare. You can easily run a 15W CFL light or run 2 x 11W CFL lights for 55 minutes a day during December and still not run your battery flat.

The high performance 28W solar panel generates energy during daylight hours and stores it in a 12V car or caravan battery for use during the hours of darkness.

Equestrian Lighting Kit 28W comes with a pre-connected wiring harness so can easily and safely be installed by anyone in about 1 ½ hours " no special tools required " following the comprehensive fitting instructions provided. We fit the connectors, crocodile clips, fuses and all the connector terminals in our factory so that installation is very straightforward for you. Then, it is simply a question of preparing the cables and inserting the ends into the connector blocks.

An added benefit is that you can move to another stable and take your Equestrian Lighting Kit 28W with you as it isn’t permanently wired to a mains supply.

Equestrian Lighting Kit 28W is designed for safety and practicality. The lamp is enclosed in a tough, bulkhead luminaire to prevent any possibility of broken glass from the lamp if your horse rears up. The rugged light switch is designed to withstand the tough stable environment. Both luminaire and light switch are weatherproof to IP54 rating and can be used outside if required.

The length of time that you can use the light each day without running the battery flat depends upon the solar energy available. There is much less energy available in the winter when you most need the lighting. December has least solar radiation so is the critical month. Please refer to the table below to see how long you can use the light for each month (on average) without running the battery flat.

A brighter light can only be used for a shorter time. However, the 28W Kit will enable you to use your 9W CF lamp for 2.2 hours a day during the month of December and, longer for other winter months.

Required but NOT supplied:

We recommend that you purchase a 12V car or caravan deep cycle battery with a capacity of at least 75Ak~85Ah so that you can be certain that you will always have enough light available. A battery of this type is available from most motoring / caravanning shops.

If, over the course of a month, you use more energy than the solar panels generate you can take the battery home and give it an overnight boost using a car battery charger.

For the technically minded:

A charge controller is not required when a 10W solar panel is used with a 75Ah battery as the unregulated charge current cannot damage the battery. However, an 28W solar panel produces much more current and thus requires a 4Ah charge controller to be fitted into the circuit.
