The 12V PIR Ultrasonic Rat Repeller is the best, and most powerful, electronic deterrent for rats available. Protects and area up to 150m² .

It is a portable deterrent which can be used in any outdoor situation from deterring rats from the garden shed, to stopping rats from foraging in your bins. It has a large detecting range of up to 20m and, because it runs of 4 x D cell batteries it can be placed wherever is most appropriate.

When a rat enters the detection zone of the Passive Infra Red movement sensor detector system the unit immediately begins to emit ultrasonic sound waves which will continue for 5 seconds. This irritates and scares the rats off. As the ultrasonic sound is not continuously running, the rats never become accustomed to it and will eventually avoid the area all together.

The powerful ultrasonic sound of 40kHz is a particularly high frequency which is rarely achieved by most other electronic deterrents. This high pitch is required to deter rats efficiently and yet cannot be heard by humans.

For best results the Ultrasonic Rat Repeller should be 0.5-0.6m from ground, alternatively it can be placed near the ground so it is at rat ear level, however, make sure the ground position has no obstacles or clutter reducing its effectiveness.

Although evidence is now emerging that ultrasound can act as a rat deterrent, we would not recommend Ultrasonic Rat Repellers as a 'stand alone' solution for getting rid of rats that are already fully established in a property. Having said that, we do believe that they can play an important part in preventing re-infestation. You will need to get rid of and existing rat infestation using more proactive methods - such as rat traps or a pest control firm.
